After her boyfriend dumps her on the eve of their exotic vacation, impetuous dreamer Emily Middleton persuades her ultra-cautious mother, Linda to travel with her to paradise. Polar opposites, Emily and Linda realize that working through their differences as mother and daughter - in unpredictable, hilarious fashion - is the only way to escape the wildly outrageous jungle adventure they have fallen into. When her boyfriend dumps her, Emily, a spontaneous woman in her 30s, persuades her ultra-cautious mom to accompany her on a vacation to Ecuador. At Emily's insistence, the pair seek out adventure, but suddenly find themselves kidnapped. When these two very different women are trapped on this wild journey, their bond as mother and daughter is tested and strengthened while they attempt to navigate the jungle and escape. This movie is a comedy. I don't expect a movie like this to have a perfect script. It's there to make people laugh and have a good time. How many hundreds of terrible, cringe-worthy films have there been in the last 30 years where the main characters are men? None of them would have an average rating of 2.3, because women don't give a s***. If they don't like a movie, they'll simply not go see it. But this movie, for some reason, people feel the need to trash it just because they hate Amy Schumer.

Amy Schumer is back with a new movie. In contrast to her debut, this film focuses on a mother-daughter relationship. Amy plays a self- involved, unaware, sassy woman who finds herself with her mom on vacation because she had no alternative. As mother and daughter are enjoying their vacation, each in her own way, we meet a possible love-interest who changes the story line dramatically. We suddenly go from light, fun comedy to dark, twisted thriller. Amy's character, however, manages to lighten things up now and then to remind us that this is still a comedy. Fun strangers played by Wanda Sykes and Christopher Meloni make appearances. Their motives are not obvious or predictable, which keeps things interesting.

If you don't enjoy Amy Schumer's humor, this movie is obviously not for you. The movie does not target the male demographic, and why should it? My friend and I really enjoyed it and were somewhat surprised by that. Perfect movie for a night out with a girlfriend to enjoy a good laugh. Considering the reviews written here I was sort of in the confusion whether I should watch this or not.

After watching it I realized that it is a fun watch with scenes where you cant help smiling or laughing. There is slightly tongue-in-cheek (sorry if it sounds inappropriate here) comedy but then there are also places where it makes it seem fun.

I would recommend this as a nice weekend watch where you can relax and enjoy a good comedy movie. It isn't the best in its class, but is good amongst the recently released titled. Too much of the humour derives from Emily’s insatiable appetite for booze, food and sex, while the central mother-daughter relationship is predictable.
